Have no idea what these features do? Perhaps the following can help:

Search Engine Optimization

Having visitors or potential customers find your webpage is very important. Your website can be optimized so that search engines may place you higher on certain searches featuring key words that your site may be all about.

For example, if you were looking for my site, you might have typed in website design services in a search engine. Hopefully my site popped up and that is how you got here!

Some search engine optimization techniques include:

  • Meta tag use
  • Using HTML header tags with cascading style sheets
  • Filenames with useful keywords in them

Is your site search engine optimized or do you wish to enhance your website with more search engine optimization techniques, then please contact me with your website address and I'll take a look.

Cross Web Browser Compatibility

Have you ever been to a webpage that did not look right? Perhaps the page was too big and made the web browser scroll left or right? Maybe there were broken images or links?

This can be caused by bad web site design practices that only cater to one specific web browser, like Internet Explorer. Not everyone uses Internet Explorer anymore, which includes your web page visitors. Make sure your website is compatible with multiple web browsers so your visitor or potential customer can navigate your website with all its functionality. You do not want to lose a customer by using special code only intended for Internet Explorer users. You must cater to as many people as you can for your website to become more successful.

Contact me with your website address and I'll take a look at it with a couple of different web browsers, like Firefox.

Cascading Style Sheets Use

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) tie in with cross web-browser compatibility along with search engine optimizations.

In order to get certain things like webpage designs to work on multiple browsers, CSS is often used.

Cascading style sheets can also be used to make certain simple HTML codes, like header tags (<h1>, <h2>, etc) blend into your site's design a lot easier.

CSS also can help decrease your site's loading times. Not only will that make your visitors happy, but once you do start to get increased site traffic you can definitely save on your bandwidth bills.

For example, the HSMP Alumni Society website I recently redesigned had an average page that was a hefty 26.8 KB. I optimized some code in the header and footer of the page and trimmed down on the javascript. I was able to implement more CSS into the site design and reduced the average page size to about 8.22 KB. That's nearly a 70% savings.

You can also make easy site-wide design changes from one file instead of manually going through every file to change all fonts that were Arial to Times New Roman.

If any of these features sound like something your site could use, then please contact me with your website address.
